Terms of Use

Effective date: September 30, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Jeremy Potter ("we", "us") about your use of the Virtual Pantry app and service. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Your account

You need an account to use Virtual Pantry. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country), give accurate information, and keep your sign-in details private. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings ▸ Account.

2. Households

You can invite other people to share your pantry, lists, recipes and meal plan. Anyone with your invite code can join while it is active, so share it only with people you trust. Members can see and change the shared household data. The household owner can remove members; if you leave or are removed, the shared data stays with the household.

3. Subscriptions

Virtual Pantry is free for one person. Household and Home Menu are paid, auto-renewing monthly subscriptions sold through Apple's App Store.

• The price is shown in the app before you buy and is charged to your Apple account when you confirm.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price, unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the period ends.
• You can manage or cancel at any time in your iPhone's Settings ▸ Apple ID ▸ Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. We cannot issue App Store refunds ourselves.
• A household member is covered by the owner's subscription while they belong to that household.
• We may change prices or what a plan includes; Apple will notify you of a price increase as its rules require.

4. Food, allergies and AI-generated content — please read

Virtual Pantry helps you organise food, but it is not a food-safety, medical or nutrition service.

• Expiry dates and shelf-life estimates are guesses. Always check the food itself and the package's own date. When in doubt, throw it out.
• Recipes, meal plans and imported recipes are generated or extracted by AI and can contain mistakes, including wrong quantities, cooking times or temperatures, or missing ingredients. Use your own judgement and follow safe cooking practices.
• Allergy filtering is a help, not a guarantee. We try to leave out foods you tell us you are allergic to, but ingredient lists can be incomplete, products change, and AI can miss things. Always read product labels. If you or someone you cook for has a serious allergy, do not rely on the app to keep you safe.
• Nutrition figures are estimates.

5. Your content

You own the content you add (your food items, notes, photos and recipes you write). You give us permission to store, process and display it only as needed to run the service for you and your household, including sending it to our service providers such as Google's Gemini AI as described in our Privacy Policy.

6. Imported recipes and other people's content

When you import a recipe from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or a website, the original belongs to its creator. Virtual Pantry saves it for your personal use and shows where it came from. Do not use the app to copy or republish other people's content in ways that break their rights or those platforms' rules.

7. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the service. In particular, don't: break the law; try to access other people's accounts or households; interfere with or overload our servers; try to get around usage limits; reverse engineer the service except where the law allows; or use automated tools to scrape it.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

8. The service

We work to keep Virtual Pantry running, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". We may change, add or remove features, and the service may occasionally be unavailable. Features that rely on outside services (such as Google Gemini, TikTok, YouTube, Apple or Google sign-in) depend on those services working.

9. Disclaimers and limits

To the fullest extent the law allows:

• We make no warranties, express or implied, including that the service will be error-free or that estimates, recipes or allergy filtering will be accurate.
• We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for loss of data, food, or profits.
• Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US $50 if you paid nothing.

Some places don't allow some of these limits, so they may not apply to you.

10. Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide support for it, and is not liable for any claim about it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies where these terms don't cover something.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, United States, except where your local consumer law gives you rights that can't be waived.
